April 1   SCYC Opens & for Season Kean's 2009 Launch Schedule Commences

April 11  Dogs, Beans, Chips and Beer $5.00 from 11:30 a.m to 1:30 p.m. in the SCYC clubhouse.

April 11, 18 and 25   Saturdays in April are Kean's Dollar Days.  If you are in the yard working on your boat or visiting with friends you haven't seen since last fall, stop up for a dog, suds and chips -  Noon to 6:00 p.m.

May 9     Put-In-Bay from Sinbad's dock

Join fellow members and friends from many of the area yacht clubs for a day at the bay.  Participants wil cruise aboard the Put-in-Bay "Jet Express."  Traveling at speeds up to 40 mph, the Jet Express will smoothly whisk you and your friends from Sinbads to Put-in-Bay in comfort and style thank to friendly, customer-service oriented crew.
The Put-in-Bay "Jet Express" will depart Saturday, May 9th, promptly at 9:30 a.m. from Sinbads, 100 St. Clair Avenue. Tickets  are $75.00 and must be prepaid. Contact Russ before 9:00 p.m. at 313-410-7384. As of today, April 9, 2009 there are at least 40 tickets available. The Put-in-Bay "Jet Express" will return to Sinbads by 8:30 p.m.
There is a breakfast buffet at Sinbads on Saturday before the departure. The buffet is $10.00 prepaid and begins at 8:00 and ends at 9:15p.m.   There are Mimosa and Bloody Mary specials from the bar and there is are dinner specials upon returning. For those arriving by boat, dockage is available for $20.00 and allows boaters to arrive on Friday and depart on Sunday. Please consider this option to avoid drinking and driving. June 6    Blessing of the Fleet & Venetion Party

The Blessing of the Fleet is a nice way to start the boating season and it takes place at 11:00 on Saturday, on the Detroit River off the docks at Kean’s.  On this special day, vessels line up to parade past spectators.  The Blessing features a parade of  recreational watercraft, large and small. Each parading vessel is blessed by a distinguished clergymen.  The Blessing of the Fleet Schedule: Detroit River off Kean's Marina, Saturday, June 6   11:00 am (Participants' meeting at 10:30 at the gas docks)

The Venetian Party begins at 7:00 pm in the clubhouse.

The Interim General Membership Meeting of St. Clair Yacht Club, Inc., will be
held at the SCYC Clubhouse, second floor of the Kean's Detroit Yacht Harbor
building, 100 Meadowbrook, Detroit , MI 48214, on the third Friday of June, 2009. The meeting will be called to order at 6:30 p.m.

June 19-21   Detroit International River Days

Detroit's Riverfront will come alive with the sights and sounds of Detroit River Days this summer.  This year's celebration will take place June 19-21. The Detroit Riverfront Conservancy says this year's festival will be scaled back with only three music stages, compared to six from last year, and trimmed from four days to three. Detroit River Days is a free event. Festival activities are to be held from the GM Renaissance Center to Rivard Plaza.

The 2009 DTE Energy Parade of Lights will take place on Saturday, June 20th.

Boat owners can click here for tips on lighting their boats, or click here for a fact sheet.  The parade committee will, upon request, be happy to meet with our organization to provide additional information.
 
Tell your friends cruising in for the event that DYC is making overnight dockage available, at no cost, to boaters traveling from outside the nearby area.
